DCS Carrier Air Wing Three, Team Battle Axe was created in 2018 by a group of like-minded real world and virtual pilots. The goal is to be a group for virtual pilots looking to achieve highest level of realism (mil-sim "lite"), simulated CQ and cyclic operations, and a training program that is as close to the real thing as possible. Our mission is simple: Interception and destruction of enemy aircraft, establish and maintain local air superiority, destruction of enemy ships and shore based targets to establish and maintain local sea control. Our training program rigorously follows the instruction plan for the F/A-18C Hornet, taking the pilot through several tiers of training until combat readiness is achieved.
Our primary goal is to develop effective virtual leaders and aviators. We are setting the conditions for future combat and training success. By building the best foundation possible through constructive repetition, we will train and provide an organized real to life structure that will ecourage professionalism and standards up to the maximum limits of the sim environment.
We will accomplish our mission through superior preparation, ensuring those pilots being trained for the tactical employment of aircraft are better and more prepared than we were. We will extend ourselves as teachers to guarantee they receive the world’s finest training, and as mentors to ensure we develop the necessary leadership qualities in our student pilots. Our goal is to successfully produce quality aviators quickly and effectively.
The SOPs are a product of professionalism and integrity; quality training is what counts. It is expected that each and every pilot use good risk management, and crew resource management and apply common sense to all that we do. Do what is right; take care of yourselves and each other. Though this brotherhood that we hope to replicate, the bond and experience of a navy carrier wing at sea. More than just another virtual DCS squadron, we are group of team members, friends and true professionals who can count on each other to push ourselves to the next level.
CVW-3 isn't for every pilot in the DCS community, we are for those seeking a realistic, military simulation that stops just short of being "too much" and really feels "just right."
